Brow Lamination FAQ

What is a brow lamination?

It’s a semi-permanent “perming” of the brows. It straightens and sets eyebrow hairs into place. It helps sparse brows look more full, defined and sculpted. A brow tint can be added.

What are the pros?

  • Thin brows that look thicker, more defined and sculpted.
  • Less maintenance

  • Coarse and kinky hairs are settled down

What are the risks?

  • Over processing resulting in dry and brittle brows
  • Overdoing it. Only get them every 8 weeks or more. Your brow tech will base visits on your hairs strength

  • Chemical burns and skin sensitivity to the solution and/or tint

How long does it take?

Under an hour

Is the shaping and trimming a part of the treatment?

Yes

How long does it last?

Some laminations can last a few months, it depends on the structure of the hair.

My brows are laminated, what do I do next?

  • For the next 24 hours avoid getting them wet. That includes swimming, saunas, and steam rooms.
  • Don’t touch them at all for 24 hours and avoid rubbing them.
  • Sleep on your back or a silk pillowcase.
  • Don’t wear heavy brow makeup or brow growth serums for at least 24 hours.
  • No strong cleansers, exfoliants, or products containing alcohol for the first 48 hours.
  • Sun exposure should be avoided for 48 hours after.

Can I reverse the results if I don’t like it?

The answer is “sort of”.

  • Moisturize the hairs daily by using castor oil, deep conditioners or coconut oils. Gently brush the oils into the hairs and shape hairs back into their natural growth pattern.
  • Apply warm compresses which can help the hairs.
  • Make sure you call the professional who performed the service so that they can give you more advice on solutions.

How can I keep them maintained?

  • Gently brush your eyebrows once a day to keep the hairs in place.
  • Apply a hair oil to your brows regularly to help keep them from drying out.
  • If you tend to sweat during workouts, wear a headband to protect brows.
  • Use a gentle makeup remover on the face, nothing too stripping.
